The University of Maryland Terrapin Rocket Team is a student-run organization, comprised of cross-disciplined undergraduate and graduate students, whose members are united by a shared passion for rocketry. Our organization designs, builds, and launches high-powered rockets for competition, including the Spaceport America Cup, the world’s largest intercollegiate rocket engineering competition.

Today we conducted the first test firings of our propellant for the @spaceportamericacup. With our propellant now characterized, we will be able to begin designing and testing our full scale motor for the competition!

We encourage all current and new members to attend the meeting, as we will talk about who we are, our goals for this year, and the different roles we offer. Even if you are unsure about joining the team, don’t be afraid to come to the meeting and ask questions! The executive team is here to help in anyway we can. We are excited to see new and familiar faces!

TerpRockets has finally made its way to Spaceport America! We spent the entire year designing and testing Terpulence II. Over 12ft tall and 88lbs, Terpulence II was TerpRockets' proudest achievement. With four launches prior to the competition, TerpRockets was one of the most prepared teams at Spaceport America. Terpulence II was the 7th flight of the competition and took off beautifully. Unfortunately, our Telemega malfunctioned and fired the drogue chute charge 8 seconds into flight. The high quality of our construction held the rocket together and it came down in one piece. We had an incredible time talking to all of the amazing teams and seeing some spectacular projects. Thank you @spaceportamericacup @esra.rocket for a fascinating experience.
